FAQs and Instructions

What does content syndication mean?

Content syndication is the republication of content to your website or social media that was not originally created by your company or originally published on your owned channels. In simple terms, it's a re-print of someone else's content.

Why do I need to follow so many rules?

These usage guidelines are designed to protect both Obie and you! On Obie's end, they make sure we get the appropriate credit for the content we are creating and legally own. On your end, following these rules makes sure that you don't accidentally get flagged by Google for plagiarism, and that we can properly credit you for indirect quotes coming from republished content. We can't do all those things unless you follow all the rules.

Which content can be syndicated?

Any piece of content listed in the content library above.

If an item is not on this list, it may not be syndicated in full without express permission from Obie. Content not on the list may be quoted or excerpted with credit and a backlink to the original article.

How to syndicate a full blog post

  1. Copy the text from the original article from the Obie website and paste into your website management software.
  2. The original author must be credited with the blog. Partners may not attach their brand or team member names as authors on Obie pieces.
  3. Partner must include the statement below at either the top or bottom of the post, and must have a follow link back to the original article: “This article was originally published on Obieinsurance.com and has been republished with the author’s permission. View the original article.”
  4. The partner must add a noindex tag from the republished content to the original blog.

    Noindexing URLs in Webflow

    Noindexing URLs in HubSpot
  5. Partners may alter the post’s ending CTA statement to point to their Obie partner landing page. They may add links to other relevant content on their site and may remove external links to sites other than Obieinsurance.com, but may not remove or alter links to Obie content in the article.
  6. Apart from the CTA, partners may not alter any other wording, including headers and titles.
  7. All links in the article should have the following UTM code added to them: ?utm_source=PARTNERDOMAIN&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=syndication
  8. Important: Once published on your site and you have a link, submit this form for tracking purposes.

How to syndicate an excerpt or quote from a blog post

  • Partners may not alter the wording in excerpts or quotes from Obie content.
  • In-line quotes must be attributed to Obie, and link back to the original blog post with a follow link.
  • Indented or pop-out quotes must have a follow source link beneath the quote.

How to share syndicated content on social media channels

Social media posts may link to the republished version of the content.

Partners may not claim credit or authorship for the article. If Obie or the specific author is mentioned, they must be tagged in the social media post.
